Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Browsing the site does not require an account. When you visit, our servers record standard technical information: IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, referring page and timestamps. This is ordinary web-server logging used for security, abuse prevention and diagnostics.

If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence so we can respond and keep a record of the issue.

2. Approximate location

We estimate your city from your IP address so we can suggest jobs near you. This lookup runs entirely on our own servers against a locally stored IP-to-city dataset — your IP address is never sent to a third-party geolocation service.

The result is only ever used to display a dismissible suggestion. It does not change the content of any page, and dismissing it is remembered in your browser's local storage rather than on our servers. We do not use GPS or precise device location.

3. Cookies and local storage

We do not use advertising cookies, and nothing on this site is used to build an advertising profile of you or to follow you across other websites.

We do use two first-party analytics cookies, set by Google Analytics and named _ga and _ga_ followed by a short identifier. They store a randomly generated identifier that lets us tell a returning visit from a new one, and they expire two years after your last visit. Section 4 explains what we do with that.

Separately, we use your browser's local storage to remember small preferences, such as whether you have dismissed the location suggestion. You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings without losing access to the site.

4. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and listings people actually find useful — how many visitors a page gets, which searches lead somewhere, and where the site is slow or confusing. Without it we would be guessing.

It records the pages you view, the approximate area you are in (derived from your IP address by Google, which does not store the address itself), your device and browser type, the site or search engine that referred you, and how long you stay. It does not record your name, email address or phone number, because we never ask you for them in order to browse.

Google's advertising features are switched off. We send an explicit instruction on every page that denies advertising storage, ad personalisation and ad-user-data, and enables ads-data redaction — so this data is not used for remarketing, is not linked to Google advertising profiles, and is not shared for ad targeting. We do not run ads on this site.

If you would rather not be counted at all, Google publishes an opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and any standard content or tracker blocker will also stop it. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.

5. How we use information

Information is used to operate and secure the service, to understand which listings and pages are useful, to prevent scraping and abuse, and to respond to enquiries. We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

6. Applying for jobs

Applications are submitted directly to the employer or via the employer's own application link. Where an application leaves our site, the information you provide is handled under that employer's privacy policy, not ours. Review it before sharing personal documents.

MyWork never asks candidates for payment, bank details or one-time passwords. If anyone claiming to represent us does, report it to betterworkindia@gmail.com.

7. Data retention

Server logs are retained for a limited period sufficient for security and diagnostic purposes and are then deleted or aggregated. Email correspondence is retained only as long as needed to handle your request.

8. Security

The site is served exclusively over HTTPS with HSTS enabled. Our database is not reachable from the public internet and requires authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical measures appropriate to the data we hold.

9. Your rights

You may ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to betterworkindia@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable period.

10. Children

The service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the 'last updated' date at the top of this page.
